Readers of my blog already knows it : I like my iPod Nano Fatty. The 3G version of the iPod was certainly one of the best iPods because you had every interface / menu and preview in the same orientation and there was no need to turn your iPod to watch a film (like the new Nano ones). The fatty was also that compact and so lightweight that with the earbud jack-plug and the balance, the device stood right and never fell down. This property is going to be used in our little “do-it-yourself” car holder. With this car holder you will even be able to watch videos/listen and choose your albums while driving and without having to install complex car holders or suction cups.

Of course one point to mention is that you need an AUX audio input cable for your car audio system.

What you need:

  • 1x Audio adapter Plug 3.5 mm stereo / jack 6.3 mm stereo
  • 1x Audio adapter Plug 6.3 mm stereo / jack 3.5 mm stereo
  • 1x Plastic link to tie around the aeration grid of the car

Two audio adapters (there are many sets on the web for less than $3)

Tie your plastic wire with the aeration grid of your car. Note the audio cable for the AUX input for the audio system.

The result

Here is the result with our iPod Nano standing on the two pieces of audio adapters)

A small but very cool entertainment system. You can even turn the iPod in the direction of your passenger, so that you won't be disturbed by the videos. Of course there is place enough to plug the iPod to car cigarette lighter cable.
