Music
My great passion is to listen to new artists and new releases. Each time there’s a new release, you’ll find here some of reviews about the tracks and albums. When reviewing the tracks I tried to remain as objective as possible by only considering the music, not the mediatic hype around a release. I hope you will enjoy this page. And of course if you want to share your opinion on a track/comment please feel free to contact me.
Evolution – Paul Van Dyk album review
Apr 15th
About five years after releasing “In Between” world’s most famous German DJ and electro-music producer Paul Van Dyk is back with a new album called “Evolution”. This sixth studio album named “Evolution” introduces some really nice new collaborations. The album won’t sound completely new for fans, it’s rather a subtle mix (or let’s say combination) of older tunes (samples) from “Reflections” and “In Between” combined with powerful trance-like vocal performances. MDNA – Madonna’s new album review
Apr 11th
When la “Material Girl” releases a new album there is so much hype around her, including the featured artists and tons of questions if it is still ok for a 50 year old music pop icon to act like she was forever 20!
We are going to leave all these questions to yellow press journalists and concentrate ourselves on her music. So here is my review of Madonna’s new album MDNA ! More >
David Guetta – Renault Twizy ad in Where Them Girls At ft. Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida music video
Sep 5th
Last time I’ve watched MTV I was surprised to see this superb non-subliminal ad for the upcoming Renault Twizy in David Guetta’s Where Them Girls At music video:
The car is running –ok,ok, dancing – to the rhythm of David’s beats. Not sure if the advertisement placed on the top of the building is translated in other countries or even censored/blurred when aired? More >

Bag Raiders – Music Review
Aug 6th
This group has made a very cool album for this summer, and their hit Way Back Home was already features in a Vodafone commercial. No, I’m not talking about a new auto tuned pop group re-featured à la David Guetta. I’m talking about Bag Raiders a very eclectic band coming directly from Australia. Their music Way Back Home started to be aired in Germany in April by Vodafone and now in complete Europe. More >
Moby – Destroyed reviewed
Jun 15th
Moby has released a new album called Destroyed. This album is a kind of back to the roots one. If you discovered Moby with 18 and Play you won’t be too much surprised to hear that this new album is a mix of pop and electro sounds. In the cd leaflet Moby explained that he wrote the tracks during nights while watching the empty cities. Moby also rediscovered the power of using choirs and powerful gospel singer to emphasize his tracks. Here are my first impressions concerning selected tracks. More >
Metronome Plus review – iPhone – iPad Metronome Application for Musicians
May 23rd
Tick-tock, tick-tock: millions of musicians are following this sound every day. You guess it; the metronome is the musician’s best friend to stay in the rhythm while playing their instruments. For those who use a traditional metronome (also called mechanical metronome) you will notice after a while, that the beat won’t be accurate enough due to the pendulum and the internal mechanism.
The solution is pretty straight forward: let’s take a digital metronome or download a metronome app. This sounds simple, but not every metronome app is accurate enough to ensure no delays and accurate rhythms. I’ve found a pretty nice app called “Metronome Plus”

MTV – VIVA alternatives on ASTRA satellite – free music video channels
May 22nd
I wan’t my MTV back! On January 1st 2011 MTV Europe switched to a pay-tv channel leaving music fans alone with the channel VIVA. The problem is that music fans (like me) can’t live with only one free music channel. VIVA (which is owned by MTV-Viacom) is certainly cool, but after 8 PM old recycled series and curious cartoons appear. So where is the music and the nice videoclips? I decided to zap around on the ASTRA satellite to check which channel could be a real alternative to MTV. Here’s my list and be sure to get your satellite dish oriented to the ASTRA satellite to enjoy these new channels
1 an de musique (Peugeot) – ça représente quoi?
May 8th
Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers
Apr 25th
This video is not completely new but very funny to watch and to listen to. I would never have tought that a house, a bathroom or a kitchen can be turned into a “musical room”
A really must have seen ! By the way the artists are : Ola Simonsson, Johannes Stjarne Nilsson from Sweden
Top 10 must-have original sound tracks
Apr 24th
What would be a movie without a powerful soundtrack? Here is a selection of my favorite soundtracks (O.S.T). They were selected not only because of the music but also because of their originality. Rating an OST is kind of difficult, because the music is directly linked to an action or a certain scene of the movie; but let’s try to make abstraction of this and only concentrate ourselves on the musical part. Product placement in videoclips / subliminal ads
Nov 27th
This post is two years old, but I thought it would be cool to see how advertisement and product placement changed the video clips industry. A few years ago TV broadcasters did not blur each frame in which a product appeared. Now the un-blurred versions of video clips are only available on YouTube or similar video sharing platforms.
Let’s have a look back to see why broadcasters came to such a decision and to discover which famous video clips included (subliminal?) ads for cool gadgets and products. More >
Faithless new album will rock this summer
Apr 9th
After a two years absence, the electro duo (composed by Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo) Faithless comes back with a massive tune. Their first new single called “Not Going Home” re-targets the good old “God is a DJ” dancefloor-tripping ambiance. After listening this first single, you will recognize the singular, Maxi Jazz’s semi-prayerful lyrics combined with the 90′s electro rhythms: a kinda back to the roots.
The release of the album The Dance is scheduled for 17 May 2010. The single can already be heard on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvnhnw6q8As
Stay tuned for my full review of the album The Dance !
Moby – Last Night / Review
Jun 8th
After “Hotel”, Moby is back with “Last Night”. I had a lot of expectations concerning this Moby CD. To be brief, you won’t get that “18″ or “Play” feeling because some of the tracks (“Mothers of the Night” are too close to “Porcelain”. Tracks such as “Hyenas” are mixing French lyrics with catchy music. More >
“Huhu huhuhuhu… Barbra Streisand”. Yes we are all singing this refrain over the last weeks. The refrain is really catchy and easy to remember. But what’s pretty interesting is the history of this hit.
