Useful Javascript libraries & tools for HTML5 developers
May 25th 2014
While programming HTML5-based applications I came along a lot of libraries and good JavaScript projects. In this blog post I want to share a small selection of my favorite libraries that I’m using almost every day especially since I’m involved in creating more and more pure HTML-5 JavaScript, Ajax and HTML + CSS3-based apps and also using server side JavaScript with node.js for several projects. So here are the most useful JavaScript libraries you can use to give a new touch to your projects and websites.

Sebastian Vettel Papercraft
Nov 1st 2013
4! Sebastian (IV)ettel won his fourth Formula One Word championship . To “celebrate” this, I’ve conceived a small – what we can call – fan papercraft representing the Formula One champion. You can download the files, take your scissors and glue and after a few minutes (max 1h30) of handiwork you will get your own Sebastian Vettel papercraft for your desktop or vitrine. As a bonus you can also put him a nice little helmet and place him on the paper podium. Have fun! Here are some pictures to show you how easy it is to build this papercraft 😉

How to export from Blender to Unity 3D with textures tutorial
Jan 3rd 2012
Believe me or not Unity 3D will be the next hype in the indie game industry and once you have discovered this tool and exported your 3D scenes to your iPhone, Android or even Flash (thanks to the new Molehill support) you will understand why. But that’s not the point of our discussion 😉 There is a topic that comes very often in forums concerning the export/import of textures in Unity 3D: how to export 3D objects or geometry made with Blender (up to 2.5) in Unity with textures? Yes with textures… The problem is that the workflow is not very clear and often textures are missing what is pretty annoying because once imported in Unity 3D you will need to assign them manually over the Material options… it’s a real pain but fortunately there is a nice solution… More >

Design: Stock check 2012
Dec 22nd 2011
The stock of rare earths and precious metals are getting lower each day, due to over-consumption and new extraction techniques: our iPads, cars and mobile phones are all containing such metals. At a first glance it’s not obvious that the stocks are pretty low and that in a few years, some important components will be missing. In order to depict this very serious situation, I’ve decided to design a shema that will show how long each metal reserve will last. This poster was initially designed for the Information Is Beautiful Award. Full poster after the break ! More >

Load a MD5 model with Away3D Broomstick and Molehill (aka Stage3D) for Flash
Jun 11th 2011
Molehill aka Stage3D will be the next revolution for Flash and AIR. The new Adobe Flash Player will fully support 3D by allowing developers to use a set of low-level GPU-accelerated APIs. What’s pretty cool is that the 3D capabilities will be available also available for Mobile, TV and Desktop-based AIR applications. The best way to realize 3D visualization is to use a framework. My favorite one is Away3D. In this tutorial you will learn how to load a MD5 object with Away 3D 4 (Broomstick) with the Flex 4.5 SDK and the new Molehill.

Total Immersion: Augmented reality meets paper ad
Jun 19th 2010
You might ask yourself what a good old French rocker Johnny Halliday (better known in USA as Smet thanks to star fashion designer Chrisitian Audigier )has something to do with augmented reality.
This question is legit but here is the answer: the French TV magazine Tele 7 jours are offering a pretty nice feature: if you place the cover of the magazine in front of your webcam you will have the pleasure to see our french rocker appear on the magazine’s cover playing a private concert for you; nice isn’t it? Indeed the French augmented reality specialized company Total Immersion really did a great job.
2010: Time for a new website design
Apr 7th 2010
It was time to change a little bit the look and the design of my blog. The usual sections remain the same, only the disposition and the new commenting feature are new. Of course, the integration of tweets is also new. If you are looking for the content of the old site, don’t hesitate to (re)-visit this page : http://matdonline.ovh.org/home.htm.
I will keep these pages online for the numerous visitor that want to grab some good old tricks about Symbian phones, connecting their Wii console with the MacBook and other old music reviews of the past 5 years. There will be a small transition, and I hope all pages from the old site, will soon be re-edited and made available under this current new URL. Have fun !
Design suggestion for EURO 2016 French candidature logo
Jul 6th 2009
You have certainly heard about the 2016 UEFA European Football Championship, or Euro 2016 for short. Each country is now suggesting cool logos for their candidature. Unfortunately France has a very “childish” logo. L’Express.fr has asked to suggest a new logo. I’ve decided to take my mouse, a pen and Fireworks to design a new one. I’ve submitted this logo to the magazine. You can see the original design on this page.
My new logo represents the Eiffel Tower in the national colors playing football.
New design for French candidature Euro 2016 (July 2009)
Jul 1st 2009
The original logo (click here to see it) for the French candidature for the Euro 2016 Football competition raised a lot of critics. L’Express.fr asked to send new logo design and concepts. Here are two concepts I’ve sent. It represents the Eiffel Tower that plays with a football.

My Sonic Shoes (April 2007) / Contest
Apr 9th 2007
Aim of this contest that was launched to celebrate the release of the Wii Game “Sonic & the Secret Rings” was to put the Sonic shoes in an original picture.
I thought placing Sonic’s shoes on Paris Hilton was funny enough to let this picture compete in this contest 🙂
Rudebox meets the Lego Box !
Sep 1st 2006
The small animation you have seen on the front page is called “Rudebox meets the Legobox” and I´ve posted it to www.rudebox74.com in order to participate to the Rudebox Competition. I´ve also designed the stickers for the Adidas Sweat shirts worn by the Legos. The background and the street were also designed and printed on paper.
Two little halogen lamps were placed over the scene in order to give an “underground” light condition. In order to have a coherent scenario, I´ve followed Robbie´s original “Rudebox” video. Hope you like my clip 😉

Paper cars
Dec 16th 2005
I’ve found a very interesting new way to build cars! It’s very very cheap : paper cars. Here are some of my favourite sites where you can download PDFs to print, to cut and to stick it up with glue: 3DPapers.com.tw or Streetpaper.de
Depending on the difficulty level, you can realize some very beautiful cars. I’ve decided to build the 360 Modena and the Ferrari F1 2000. By clicking on the pictures you can enlarge. The Modena took me (i’m a beginner, so excuse the imperfections 😉 ) 4 hours and the F1 about 5h30 to build… It’s worse to try!
